Once you become a die hard Thalaivaa Fan, language is but a very minor barrier.
I became a die-hard the day I watched Thalaivaa movie at Mayajaal Multiplex (Asia's biggest with 16 screens). I booked ticket 3 days in advance and I got the ticket only because of singled out 1 or 2 spots which were empty at all screens and all shows (no consecutive two seats were available in almost 20 showtimes that I checked. then I gave up and booked a odd corner singled out spot). Just imagine all screens showing only one movie every 10 mins, still houseful for week in 3 days advance. Total 60 shows a day, all of Endhiran. It was like Rajini festival on the way.
The real surprise came after I got settled in my seat, to my amazement I spotted several old ladies (grandma's precisely) with their families and adjacent to me also there was a woman may be in her 70's. I was imagining the scenario in a generalized way and asked myself a question... will my grandmother watch an (with all due respect for AB Sir, couldn't find bigger well known star than him in Bollywood to compare) Amitabh Bachchan movie if he plays a Robot?... Firstly, she will not be interested or even knowing who is Amitabh Bachchan, secondly even if she knows, she will just frown at the Robot look of actor and dismiss it then and there; for her generation the topic of movie itself is unimaginable. But come to Chennai and see the craze. I enjoyed the movie totally amidst that kind of fanfare even though I was not able to understand a single line in Tamil. That was the moment when Rajinikanth became Thalaivaa (the Leader) in my eyes. I experienced it, because I had that desire to watch at least one Rajinikanth movie in Chennai in it's first week of release. The only other experience of public love, greater than this, was watching Sachin Tendulkar play at Wankhede Stadium.
Don't miss Rajini movie in Chennai if you want to experience Pure Love from masses and classes alike for an Actor. Earlier I was just a fan, later I became a Thalaiva admirer and die hard fan.
No other Actor in India commands that kind of respect and fandom from audience in all age groups.
Rajinikanth is coming with a bang ... in & as Kabali.
Kabali Da ...
